Peer Solutions hosts STAND & SERVE (S&S), a peer facilitated initiative uniting elementary through post-secondary schools, families and communities to cultivate good to end bad. Current Activities Include:
Weekly student-led STAND & SERVE lunch meetings with Tempe, Marcos De Niza and North High Schools on Mondays-Wednesdays. Students implement activities across campus and plan after-school peer mentor projects.
Weekly peer mentor afterschool and summer STAND & SERVE projects with elementary through post secondary students from schools across Phoenix and Tempe including but not limited to Camelback, North, Tempe, McClintock and Marcos De Niza High Schools, Fees, McKemy, Gililland and Connolly Middle Schools, William T. Machan and Children First Academy. Activities are held Mondays-Wednesdays at Machan School and Westside Community Center.
Monthly STAND & SERVE Coalition Meetings. School, family and community partners developed THE GUTS TO BE GOOD, five things we can do to cultivate safety, equality and respect as norms. Everyone is welcome. Meetings are held the last Thursday of the month at the Burton Barr Phoenix Public Library, Story Room, 1st Floor.
On-going STAND & SERVE School, Family and Community Outreach to include school staff memos and announcements, service projects, Days at the Capitol, Cultural, Family and Community Celebrations, ongoing training and evaluation.
STAND & SERVE members are provided with tools to bring their communities together to define the problem and design the solution. Peer Solutions staff work with S&S members to develop and lead age appropriate and culturally relevant activities. Participants learn about and work to prevent issues they are directly affected by, educate younger students, serve on Peer Solutions Board of Directors, conduct activities on and off campus and facilitate local and national workshops to empower others to help prevent harm before it begins with positive solutions.
