Peer Solutions Job Opening #1

High School Program Coordinator

25-30 Hours per week at $16 - $18 per hour

SEEKING THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

●       Commitment to Peer Solutions Vision, Mission, Guiding Principles, and Trauma Informed Primary Prevention (TIPP)                                                                          (See www.PeerSolutions.org for more information)

●       Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish

●       Social Media and Computer literacy - proficiency with Word, Excel, etc.

●       Possess strong youth, family, school, and community mobilization skills with the desire to include people of all identities and abilities

●       Reliable, hard-working, flexible, adaptable, honest, fun, and self-motivated with strong organizational and critical thinking skills

●       Experience in program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE                                                                                                  

1. Oversee and facilitate weekly lunch-time and summer peer developed and led meetings and peer education projects with a diverse group of elementary, middle, and high school students and community partners.

Activities include but are not limited to:

●       Assist youth leaders in facilitating and evaluating meetings, workshops, trainings, and other educational activities

●       Secure activity locations and materials

●       Recruit, build, and maintain relationships with school sponsors, principals, school staff, students, peer educators, families, community partners, and policy makers

●       Recruit, train, and support high school peer educators to develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum

●       Assist students in generating monthly school and community outreach and service projects

●       Assist, attend, facilitate, and provide transportation for monthly coalition meetings and all other Peer Solutions activities off campus with parent/guardian permission

2.    Fill out timesheets, update school/site rosters, and document all activities on Data Collection Forms (DCF)

3.      Represent Peer Solutions at community meetings and collaborations

4.      Participate in ongoing professional development, weekly staff meetings, and weekly Peer Educator meetings

5.      Grant Management and Contract Compliance which may include writing, editing, and reporting

6.      Support and train Volunteers and other Program Coordinators

 

WEEKLY SCHEDULE AT A GLANCE

●     MONDAY: Two lunch meetings at North High School 11:00 - 2:00 and Machan Elementary 3:00-5:00 (5hrs)

●     TUESDAY: Lunch meeting at Tempe High School 11:00 - 1:00 (2hrs)

●     WEDNESDAY: Lunch meeting at Camelback High School 12:00 - 2:00 (2hrs)

●     THURSDAY: Lunch meeting at South Mountain High School 11:00 - 2:00, Staff meeting 1:45 - 2:45, Coalition Meeting Once Per Month 3:00 - 6:30 (8hrs)

 

When school is not in session, you will be working on other projects including Days at the Capitol, annual potluck, end of the school year and summer celebrations, retreats for high school students/Peer Educators, curriculum development, staff training, planning, and more.

●     Able to work some nights and weekends (Oct. 7 and Dec. 8, and TBD)

●     Willing to obtain fingerprint clearance for Peer Solutions, and Tempe and Phoenix Union High School Districts

●     Willing to transport students in agency vans

●     Able to work out of own home including storing some program supplies

●     Willing to check and respond to email and text messages daily– (During work hours)

●     Willing to abide by Peer Solutions Policies and Procedures and all school and school district guidelines and policies.

●     Excited about working with all ages and identities to cultivate  equity to end oppression
